In 1978, when they were in 3rd grade at Serrania Elementary, Jason Bateman kissed Amy Keating. But then in 1980, Amy was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. While the tumor was safely removed, Jason had heard about the tumor and thought that Amy had died. When he called to check on her, Amy filled him in on what had happened and assured him that she was alive and well. But then in 1984, they saw each other again. When Jason saw Amy, he was shocked and said, “Oh my God, I thought you were dead!” Despite the fact that Jason and Amy both work in the entertainment industry and have many people in common, it has been 25 years since they last saw each other.

Following the theory that Jason may have forgotten their second encounter and still think that she is dead, Amy went on a quest. Using “Six Degrees of Jason Bateman,” Amy contacted various friends, grade school classmates, and entertainment connections to find Jason and tell him that she is in fact alive. Starting her quest in 2008, Amy’s goal was to tell Jason before their 40th birthdays, which were quickly approaching in 2009.

This documentary follows her journey to achieve this.
